Dowlat Abad Garden in Chahar Manar district, is one of the oldest gardens of Yazd in Iran, as well as the Fin Garden inKashan and the Shazdeh Garden in Kerman. The wind towers with 8.38 meters’ height is the tallest brick-build wind tower in the world.
The garden consists of two sections: the interior and exterior.
From the point of view of functional typology, Dowlat Abad is the “government-settlement ” (government) garden. So that the outer garden was the site for governmental rituals, sporting events and the city administration, and the interior garden is a private and residential complex. In “government-settlement ” gardens, the interior was completely different from other areas, and even they appointed the guardian for this place. The main door of this complex is located on Shahid Rajaee street in the Chahar Monar quarter of Ferdowsi street (Hosseiniyeh Ferdows), and the other door is situated in Dowlat Abad Boulevard.
The historical Qanat of Dowlat Abad with more than 200 years old, consists of five Qanats. It originated from Mehriz Highlands, after irrigation some part of the land and moving several watermills, after passing 50 kilometers, it reached to Yazd and irrigated the Dolatabad garden. But nowadays, this garden is irrigated by the adjacent semi-deep well.
