Gilan Rural Heritage Museum is located in Sarvan forest park of rash in Gilan province. The museum was built on an area of about 260 hectares in the Saravan Forest Park, located at 18th km of the Persian Gulf highway (Rasht–Tehran Road).
It is planned that the buildings of 9 villages of the province, which are the symbols of Gilan’s authentic architecture, will be modeled and then rebuilt at the museum site.
The first village of these villages is in the eastern Gilan plain, in other words Lahijan and Ruddobhan, and the second village is the central plain of Rasht. The third village belongs to Fouman. The lateness of the buildings on the museum site is from 65 to 180 years. In this museum, the type of life, work, housing and handicrafts of native Gilan is displayed.
The idea of establishing this museum was formed after the 1990 earthquake of Gilan, which intensified the process of demolition of traditional buildings. But its preparatory studies phase began in early 2002.
First, extensive studies were conducted to find the right location for the project. After extensive research, Saravan Forest Park was selected due to the appropriate and similar topography of Gilan, easy access and proper infrastructure facilities as the site of the project. At the same time, Training of the needed forces was carried out.
The architectural part of the museum is a collection of buildings dating back an average of 150 years. The goal of the Gilan Rural Heritage Museum is not only to transfer rural buildings, but to preserve indigenous culture, technology, and non-scientific knowledge existing in the villages of Gilan. In this collection, in addition to the rural architecture of different regions of the province, other cultural elements related to the means of life, work, food, clothing and … will also be presented.
