Zayanderud or Zenderud means life giver, and originates from the central Zagros Mountains, in particular Zard-Kuh Bakhtiari, and goes about 200 km in the central desert of Iran towards the east, and ultimately floats to the Gavkhouni swamp.
The Zayandeh River basin has an area of 41,500 square kilometres.
It is estimated that the flow of this river in the most desirable conditions is 1, 2 cubic meters per year or 38 cubic meters per second. the irrigation dams constructed are used for irrigation of agricultural land in Isfahan province. This river passes through Isfahan, and the famous bridges such as Si-o-seh polbridge and Khaju Bridge are on its way.
